General Yue tells the King his thoughts about the battle with Donghai, and Yuan Qi intervenes to say that there is nothing more to it. However, Minister Xun sees the point in General Yue’s words, and asks the King to let him submit the report. Yuan Qi tries to delay any investigation, saying that they should concentrate on the annual banquet first.
Minister Xun thinks that the report General Yue submitted to detailed and worth looking into, and asks the King to allow General Yue to stay until the banquet is over to analyse the situation with them.
Pei’er awakens and is terrified of her new surroundings, and General Yue’s subordinate (General Pan) hilariously thinks that she’s deaf and mute, and gesticulates wildly to tell her how she was rescued. Upon hearing that she is in the Capital, Pei’er wants to leave – but isn’t sure where to.
An Ru is indifferent towards Yuan Qi. General Yue gets some books from the library, having been allowed access by Minister Xun.
General Pan is shocked that Pei’er wants to walk back to her hometown, and accidentally discovers that she’s an escaped servant. She cries and pleads for him to spare her, and he is super taken aback because he never expected to guess right HAHA. Pei’er catches on that they are generals, and asks if they had fought in the Donghai battle.
She tells General Pan that in the battle, she had lost a lot of family – but she knows that it was not their fault. She resolutely says that since she is going to die, she will not die in vain.
Pei’er speaks to General Yue and Pan, and reveals that she is from the Laiyang Mansion. She bows deeply, and starts to tell what has happened.
Commander Xun returns home, and his aunt is overjoyed to see him. He greets Minister Xun, who assures him that once the King grows up, they can relax.
General Pan can’t believe his ears, but General Yue seems to consider her words seriously. He promises to think over it, and assures that he will not surrender her to anyone.
General Pan picks up that General Yue had harboured suspicions about Yuan Qi, and Pei’er’s words had echoed his doubts over Yuan Qi. But General Yue knows that as new people in the capital, their connections and resources are limited.
Commander Xun receives a letter from Ping Jing in the Xun mansion. Back in Langya Hall, Lin Xi is telling Qian Xue that she is actually the betrothed girl to Ping Jing, and wants to tell him personally.
Ping Jing chides Lin Xi for running around Langya Hall, and remarks that without his brother and father, his time is meaningless – and then, he proposes to Lin Xi, saying that he wants to follow her. They greet Lin Chen and tell him of their plans to leave the mountain, and that he will not involve himself in the politics and military. Meanwhile, General Yue finishes his report. Commander Xun passes the letter Minister Xun, who tells him to pass his thanks to Ping Jing. Minister Xun remarks that even in Langya Hall, he is still so insightful. He Chang retrieves some old records. Minister Xun receives General Yue at the Xun Mansion, where he asks to report Yuan Qi. Minister Xun tests General Yue, asking why he would believe Pei’er’s words – General Yue replies that he was in the battle himself. However, Minister Xun is still rather doubtful, because of how Lord Moqi had killed Yuan Qi’s mother.
They can’t search the Laiyang Mansion, and the people involved have been killed. Minister Xun remarks that he actually believes him, but because of the immensity of the charge, he cannot just order a search.
Then, Minister Xun asks about the the ship-port thing (that Ping Jing had noted in the letter), since General Yue is familiar with marine affairs. He confirms that the port has a special position, and Donghai’s battle must be related to Yuan Qi.
The Xun servant asks for An Ru to visit the Xun mansion, as her family misses her. Yuan Qi is quite reluctant, but the servant is insistent in bringing An Ru to visit them. The aunt brings An Ru away, and Yuan Qi tries to follow – but is stopped by Minister Xun, who offers to drink together instead.
